PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE

Tips for Getting the Most Out of our Products

Don’t Let Any Go to Waste

Here are some insider tips for how to make the most out of a few of our products. Some of these products are non-homogenized, which results in the ingredients separating after the product has had a chance to relax on the store shelf. For many, this is an indicator of quality dairy, but means that a little effort is needed to mix the delicious ingredients back together!

Stir Up Our Sour Cream
Our A2/A2 Organic Probiotic Sour Cream is perfect for topping off spicy dishes, adding texture in baked goods, or chip dips. In any usage, we love whipping it up slightly with a fork to maximize that fluffy texture that you get from it’s high fat content (our sour cream is “European-Style” with 25% milkfat)! This month, we’re even hosting a Sour Cream “STIR IT UP” Challenge, where the best stir wins you free dairy for a month! See the details on
Instagram and Facebook.

Remember the Chocolate in our 4% Chocolate Milk

Have you tried our newest product, A2/A2 Organic 4% Chocolate Milk? With only four REAL ingredients, it is quickly becoming a staple in homes all across the nation. It is super creamy at 4% milkfat and the high quality, organic natural cocoa powder really sets it apart from the rest. The cocoa powder settles at the bottom, so be sure to give it a few goods shakes to mix it back in. TIP: shake hard enough to get a work out in, and immediately replenish your body with 9 grams protein, 280 mg calcium, and lots of energy from the chocolate!

Blend in the Beans in our Vanilla Bean Yogurt
Have you ever noticed the black flecks at the bottom of our A2/A2 Organic 100% Grass-fed Vanilla Bean Yogurt? They are completely harmless! Those are the real vanilla beans that we add in for extra flavor. Because our yogurts are non-homogenized, some of the vanilla bean tends to settle at the bottom of the container but can easily be stirred back in. Or, leave it for the end and enjoy a few super-vanilla bites. Up to you!

Shake Shake SHAKE our Cream Top Milks
Our A2/A2 Organic
6% Whole Milk and 100% Grass-fed Milk are non-homogenized. Due to their high milkfat contents, they develop a THICK cream top plug in the neck of the bottle. Some folks love eating the full cream off the top with a spoon, but we recommend shaking the bottles until the cream mixes back in to the liquid. That way, each and every sip is full of creamy, delicious milkfat and you’re not left with low-fat milk (we have another product if you want that)! When opening the bottle the first time, shake, shake, SHAKE the cream back in (with the lid on). The cream will continue to settle on the top the longer the bottle sits, so give it a firm shake before you open it each time.

NUTRITION INFO

Choosing the Best AFF Product for Your Health Needs

Which AFF product is the “healthiest”? That depends on your needs!

With so many diets and food options available nowadays, the grocery store can be overwhelming at times. Seven apple varieties. Twelve different tomato soups. Hundreds of cereals! There are also a lot of dairy options out there, and we alone offer 17 different dairy products.

So when it comes to choosing something as impactful on your health as dairy, we believe that you should be informed on what all of the options are. Below, we’ll explain some of the nutritional benefits of the different types of dairy products we offer. If you’re unsure about which to try, we suggest you inquire with your healthcare provider about which product would be best for your health needs.

Whole Fat

The increased nutrient density of whole milk dairy helps satisfy hunger and makes you feel fuller, helping to reduce cravings for sweet, high carb snacks between meals. Higher fat content also better helps your body absorb fat-soluble vitamins like A and D. The national standard for whole milk is 3.25% milkfat - our whole milk products have 4% and 6% milkfat (almost twice as creamy and more nutrient-dense than most whole milks on the market)! See our whole fat products here.

Low-fat and Reduced Fat

Reduced fat dairy is a great option for folks who choose, or need, to limit their fat intake. On average, milk is approximately 87% water and 13% milk solids (consisting of milkfat, proteins, carbs, and minerals). A lower percentage of milkfat means each serving of reduced fat milk has a higher percentage of protein. Our 2% reduced fat milk contains 10 grams of protein per serving (25% more protein than most 2% milk), and our low-fat yogurt contains 6 grams of protein per serving. See our low-fat and reduced fat products here.

High Fat

When we say “high fat”, we mean it. High fat dairy is delicious, and offers a richness and great texture when added to drinks or used as ingredients in meals. We are fans of high fat dairy, so our high fat products are especially rich and creamy. See our high fat products here.

Seasonal Full Fat

“Seasonal full fat” means we do not alter the butterfat level (add or remove any cream) and the milkfat in each batch is just as it came from the cows on the day of milking. So you get to enjoy the changing milkfat that nature provides and the delicious benefits of full fat. Because the fat content of this milk fluctuates naturally with the seasons, each batch has a unique percentage of milkfat that is viewable on our website. Generally, the milkfat is between 3.8% and 5.2%. Other than our low-fat yogurt, all of our 100% grass-fed products are seasonal full fat. See our seasonal full fat products here.

100% Grass-fed

Our green label 100% grass-fed milk comes from cows that are 100% grass-fed (which includes fresh pasture, hay, and grass silage). Milk from cows that eat a lot of grass is rich in protein and has a higher rate of Omega-3s (the essential fatty acids that contribute to brain and eye health, especially in children) and CLAs (conjugated linoleic acids - the healthy fats known for their evidence-based benefits). See our 100% grass-fed products here.

Probiotic

Probiotics, also known as good bacteria, are live microorganisms that help keep the body healthy and functioning properly. Directly translated from Greek and Latin, probiotic means “for life”. “Probiotic dairy” is dairy that has probiotics added to it. Probiotics help digest food, keep bad bacteria from growing (which otherwise could lead to infection), help metabolize food and convert it to energy for the body to use or store for later, and much more to support a healthy body! See our probiotic products here.

DAIRY LIFE

Savoring Summer Sun with Volleyball Games at the Egg Ranch

Egg ranch team playing volleyball

We’re making the most out of the season by enjoying the great outdoors. Our true “summer” is pretty short here in northern California, so we need to take advantage of the warm sun while we can.

Every day, many of our team members get to spend their hours outside maintaining the roads, pastures, and fencing, and helping move coops and cows to and from the fields. When the egg ranch team isn’t moving coops or collecting and cleaning eggs, they enjoy the outdoors by meeting up for a spontaneous game of volleyball.

Summer on the farm is filled with a lot of work and a lot of joy, too. If you haven't been to the egg ranch recently - stop by, you may catch the guys playing volleyball on a sunny afternoon. This is the joy of farming.
