Homemade Maple Vanilla Caramel Sauce

Time: 15 minutes | Yields: 1 cup

Ingredients:

- ½ cup coconut sugar

- ½ cup pure maple syrup

- 3 tbsp salted grass-fed butter, cut into pieces

- ½ cup A2/A2 Organic Heavy Whipping Cream at room temperature

- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

- ¼ tsp sea salt

Feeding our Fields with Compost in Fall

Gold in the form of manure compost

Our full-circle, organic manure composting program is a key part of our Certified Regenerative practices. Twice a year, we apply this nutrient-boosting, soil-building matter to our fields. Starting with a base of cow manure and wood shavings from bedding in our barns, our compost is amended with local commodities to reach the perfect carbon-to-nitrogen ratio that ensures perfectly balanced nutrition for our pastures.

Our manure compost ages for up to 6 months before it is broken down enough to apply. We usually apply solid compost to 20-30% of our pastures, which we can see (from a lifetime of observation) need more nutrients. This is done in the spring and in the fall, right before and after peak growing season.

Our goal is to balance the solid manure application with plant growth. In the spring, we want to replace the nutrients that are not being applied by the cows directly onto the fields because they were in the barn during the heavy rain season; and in the fall, to restore any nutrients that were lost during the growing season.

In the video above, you can see how we load the compost into trucks and distribute it on top of the field. Throughout the season, cow's hooves incorporate the compost into the pasture, which builds the soil by feeding its biological life (the microorganisms that live in the soil). This improves the soil quality and supports healthy plant growth.
