We’ve had a busy few months working in lots of different spaces to make sure children, young people and families get the support they need.
As our world is changing, so are the ways we need to show up. And thanks to the support of the Barnardo’s community, we’re able to come together and do that in all sorts of ways.
From tackling misogyny both online and offline to creating digital hubs where families can feel connected and supported, together we’re reshaping support for children, young people and families so it’s easier to access, more effective and constantly evolving.
Keep reading to see how together, we’re building safer and happier childhoods.

Call It What It Is | | |
In our new campaign “Call It What It Is”, we’ve worked with a group of young people (The Changing Attitudes Group), to really get into the worlds of children and young people and how they are experiencing misogyny today. We surveyed 4,000 young people aged 13-20 across the UK and the findings are stark.

”I’ve seen how easy it is for misogyny to hide in plain sight online…Being part of a generation that has grown up with the internet, I think we have a responsibility to question the norm and push for something better.”
- Hannah, member of the Changing Attitudes group. |

With girls facing direct harassment, and boys under pressure to ‘act’ and stay silent, it’s painting a picture of how challenging and unsafe environments are for young people today.
That’s why we’re raising the alarm. 🚨
Because it doesn’t have to be this way. Together, we can push for stronger protections in online spaces and build a safer digital world for every child.

‘Baby Bundles’ for families in poverty
Thank you to those of you who emailed your MP earlier in the year. It helped us open a wider conversation about how poverty effects children in their earliest years.
As part of this work to make sure families are getting everything they need, regardless of their circumstances, Max Bowden, Celebrity Ambassador, met with families at our Woking Family Centre. They offer parenting support, drop-in healthy child clinics, and other services to help families living in poverty to be healthy. He saw how ‘Baby Bundles’ could make a huge difference to families who need support with their babies during the fundamental first few years of life.
Do you know about our Virtual Family Space?
We’ve got an online space to help families stay connected and access the support they need anytime. From looking after your baby's first teeth to stopping squabbling siblings. Barnardo's Virtual Family Space helps parents navigate family life by providing free digital access to advice, workshops and recordings.

Thank you for continuing to help evolve how children, young people and families receive support. Together, we’re able to tackle misogyny, help babies in their earliest years of development and keep families connected through online support. We can’t wait to see what the Barnardo’s community does next.
With warm wishes,
Amelia Barlow
