Trump and congressional Republicans are moving to sell off Chaco Canyon, and we need to act.
Right now, the administration is trying to revoke the Greater Chaco mineral withdrawal, which prohibits new oil and gas leasing on over 330,000 acres of national public lands bordering Chaco Culture National Historical Park.
Chaco Canyon is the ancestral home of the Pueblo people, and a site of deep cultural, archeological, and historical significance to dozens of Tribal Nations throughout the Southwest. Chaco Culture National Historical Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, safeguards more than 33,000 acres of public lands and thousands of archeological sites.

If the Bureau of Land Management moves forward with this proposal, new oil and gas drilling will be allowed within 10 miles of the park’s boundaries, threatening irreplaceable cultural and environmental resources, and posing serious health risks to local communities.
These lands are irreplaceable. Let’s make sure they’re protected for future generations, not exploited and polluted for Big Oil’s profits.

Join LCV in standing with local communities who have led the fight to protect Chaco Canyon for decades.

Thank you for taking action for our public lands!
