Watercolor is made by mixing pigment and binder with water, and then (usually) painted onto paper. It's a particularly tricky skill to master and is considered the medium in which artists learn the process of painting. This is because the actual paint can be pretty unforgiving, which lends itself to plenty of hiccups throughout the creative process.
