Watching the new “Knives Out” movie recently, I was reminded of how much I love a good detective story—even those that, tragically, don’t feature Daniel Craig with a New Orleans drawl. Here are some of my favorite stories of sleuths and crime-solvers.
A reminder of when the area was known as “The Iron County,” the Helen Furnace was built in 1845 and operated until 1857. Standing 32 feet tall, it produced 1,000 tons of iron per year at its peak.
