This fiberglass and steel roadside landmark, named Blossom, began as an advertisement for Over’s Dairy, which it’s outlasted by several decades. She’s become a mascot for the locals, who dress her for the seasons, and is an icon of the region’s farming history.
Hyeholde is a Tudor-style country cottage built as a residence and restaurant by William and Clara Kryskill just outside Pittsburgh. Current chef and owner Chris O’Brien combines vintage-style recipes like cassoulets with an emphasis on farm-fresh produce.
In the Erie National Wildlife Refuge, this 1.2-mile trail winds through protected habitats that draw diverse plants and wildlife. 230 known bird species, including osprey, wood ducks, kestrels and bald eagles, have been spotted in the area. The site has been designated an Important Bird Area by the National Audubon Society.
Walk down an otherwise nondescript alley in South Philly and find yourself in a vivid, immersive mosaic wonderland. These lesser known works by Isaiah Zagar have all the appeal of his more famous installations without the crowds.
