A farewell tour? That’s not a phrase that sits well with Stan Wawrinka as he begins his 25th and final season on the ATP Tour.
Send your well wishes and accolades and they will be received politely and with appreciation. But the Swiss is determined to crown one of the finest careers of the past 20 years by doing in 2026 what he does best: fighting with all his might to win as many matches as possible.
"I'm good with my decision to announce this is my last year, but I'm not doing a year just to say goodbye," Wawrinka told ATPTour.com. "I'm a competitor. I want to push my limit, I want to still fight against good players. I want to still win matches. I want to try to be back at the Top 100 at 40 years old." |

Is this the year that Team USA’s United Cup dominance turns into a dynasty? Thriving in a format that rewards depth as much as star power, the Americans are eager to capture their third title in four years.
Coco Gauff and Christian Harrison continued their mixed doubles heroics on Wednesday to lead the United States into the semi-finals of the mixed teams’ tournament. They now await the winner of the Poland-Australia quarter-final.
In the other half of the draw, Belgium will face Switzerland for a place in Sunday's United Cup final. |

Love is in the air at the United Cup. Jason Kubler and Maddison Inglis, members of Team Australia, got engaged at Rottnest Island last month.
“It was super exciting. I didn't anticipate the hour leading up. I was so nervous. That was crazy. Felt like we were on a first date again,” Kubler said. “Very happy I did it. Very happy Maddy said yes, which is good.”
Now it is down to business for the home side. Kubler and Inglis are the No. 2 singles players in the event for their country and they will do everything they can to help Australia claim glory at the United Cup for the first time. |

Thanasi Kokkinakis did not expect a first-round doubles match at the Brisbane International presented by ANZ could move him to tears.
But it did just that. The 29-year-old Australian, who underwent a radical and unprecedented pectoral surgery in February, was back competing on home soil eariler this week in Brisbane, where he teamed with Nick Kyrgios.
“I've never really teared up from a doubles match, even when we won,” Kokkinakis said. “What I have gone through the past 12 months is crazy, speaking to a lot of surgeons, a lot of doctors. I spoke to Rafa's doctor and he wasn't quite sure what was going on. It was pretty crazy.” |
