Just as he did in 2025, Jannik Sinner channelled some Paris pain to forge a Wimbledon win at The All England Club.
The No. 1 player in the PIF ATP Rankings bounced back from his shock second-round exit at Roland Garros in style at the grass-court major, where on Sunday he rallied past Alexander Zverev to successfully defend his title. The 24-year-old Sinner, who is now a five-time major champion, was visibly emotional after completing his 6-7(7), 7-6(2), 6-3, 6-4 championship-match win on Centre Court.
“For me this one means a lot because it was a tough one after Paris again,” Sinner said. “Last year was also tough. But coming here, I tried to put myself in the best possible position to be as competitive as possible... Definitely sacrificing a lot of my time and everything to be in this position. Having this achievement, it means a lot to me. It was an amazing day today.”

Fery Flies Into Top 40: Arthur Fery had won just six tour-level matches prior to Wimbledon but the 23-year-old Briton is suddenly a Top 40 player after a career-changing semi-final run at SW19. Fery, who had previously not even broken the Top 100, upset Grigor Dimitrov and Top 10 star Flavio Cobolli en route to the last four. |

Bjorn Borg established himself as an untouchable force on the lawns of Wimbledon in the second half of the 1970s. Yet of his five consecutive title runs at SW19, it was his first that would prove to be his most dominant.
Fifty years ago, the then-20-year-old Borg marched to his maiden crown at The All England Club without dropping a set across his seven matches. Even for a player who would go on to reel off a record 41 match wins in a row across six editions of the grass major, the way Borg motored through the 1976 field was something to behold.
Despite him already being a two-time Roland Garros champion by 1976, some had doubted the ‘Ice Man’ Borg’s chances of lifting titles at Wimbledon, given his preference to play from the baseline and the fact that no man with a two-handed backhand had ever triumphed on the London grass. |
