TOMMY SMITH BIDS FAREWELL TO AUCKLAND FC
Auckland FC can confirm that centre-back and co-vice-captain Tommy Smith has made the difficult decision to depart the club and return to the United Kingdom in order to devote more time and support to his young family.
The centre-back was a fan favourite throughout the club’s historic inaugural season.
Smith made 25 appearances, including 12 starts, and helped guide the team to a historic milestone as the first New Zealand side to lift A-League silverware.

BEN PEREZ BALDONI SELECTED FOR OFC U16 CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM
Auckland FC is proud to confirm that Ben Perez Baldoni has been selected to represent New Zealand in August’s OFC U16 Championship.
The striker started out at Ellerslie AFC, whilst also playing for his school at Selwyn College. He recently joined Auckland FC Reserves to further develop his skills and mental understanding of the game.
Ben currently features for the Auckland FC Reserves, while several other players selected in the OFC U16 squad are currently involved in the club’s Talent Development Centre (TDC), a training programme that supplements the work of local clubs.

SWEAT, SAKAI & STARSHIP
Jerseys worn by players in Auckland FC’s first-ever match have been auctioned off, raising nearly $3,000 for the Starship Foundation.
The five player shirts went for a total of $2815, the most popular being the shirt worn by Auckland FC captain and former Japanese international, Hiroki Sakai.
The shirt is the same one Sakai wore when he forced a Brisbane Roar defender into conceding an own goal, and Auckland’s first ever, back in October.
Every dollar raised helps the Starship Foundation bring hope and healing to thousands of children across New Zealand.
