Your support gives shy dogs like Mr. Darcy the extra time they need to find loving homes. Mr. Darcy was just like his literary counterpart when he first came to Best Friends — aloof, socially awkward, and dashingly handsome. But this floofy white-and-black pup was also what some might call, well, a wee bit unpolished. He wasn’t unfriendly, just extremely cautious and awkward around new people and pets.
However, Best Friends staff knew there was a sweet, goofy guy hiding beneath the surface and that he just needed a little extra time to build his trust. So they moved him into the administrative office, where, thanks to copious amounts of peanut butter, ear scritches, and positive reinforcement, the real Mr. Darcy began to emerge — a happy, silly boy who craved affection and loved to play.
Shortly after his transformation came the climax of Mr. Darcy’s epic story. A wonderful family fell in love with his adoring glances and dapper demeanor and welcomed him into their home. Says his newfound family, “He is one of the absolute greatest dogs I have had the pleasure of loving. We are so blessed to be his family.”
