Doesn’t every pet deserve a home?

Dear Friend,

At first glance, he might look brawny and intimidating. But big, sweet Felix is more teddy bear than polar bear. And it’s no wonder why; before making his way to our sanctuary, this guy lived in a home where he knew nothing but love and joy. But when his person tragically passed away and he lost that home, he needed help to heal his broken heart — which he’d be sure to get here aplenty.

On any given day, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is a healing home-between-homes for up to 1,600 dogs, cats, birds, bunnies, horses, pigs, and other animals. Some of them have special needs that require physical healing, and others like Felix just need extra TLC until they’re matched with a family. No matter what they need, they always get it at Best Friends, as Felix can attest.

With time, attention, and endless cuddles, Felix came out of his shell, and he soon found himself with a flock of fans, including fellow canines, charmed humans, and even enchanted kittens. The love and care he received at the Sanctuary seemed to work its magic, helping Felix’s heart heal. Or maybe Felix worked his own special magic — because today he’s officially been adopted and is in a home of his own.

Help pets like Felix find homes »

Felix is living the good life now, but there are so many other homeless pets like him in shelters across the country who still need help. They’re counting on us to bring them home. In fact, a dog or cat is killed in America’s shelters every 90 seconds just because they don’t have a safe place to call home. If just 1 in 17 more people chose to adopt versus purchase their pets, we would end the killing of dogs and cats in our nation's shelters.

That’s why Best Friends is working alongside people like you to find homes for pets not only at our sanctuary but also at our lifesaving centers around the country. Today, 2 out of 3 U.S. shelters are no-kill, and hundreds more are within reach of that goal. With your help, we can save every at-risk pet and secure a better future for our best friends.

A home is much more than four walls and a ceiling. It’s safety, it’s love, it’s you. And every one of our best friends deserves exactly that. So together, let’s bring them home and Save Them All. And let’s ensure a safe, no-kill country for homeless pets.
