Human Rights Watch is working to ensure that all people who are displaced or have fled their homes are treated with dignity and respect for their basic human rights.

But we’re continuing to witness governments making use of public rhetoric, domestic law and regional policie to evade their responsibilities to refugees and migrants:

In the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Israel’s deliberate forced displacement of Palestinian civilians in Gaza and the emptying of refugee camps in the West Bank amount to crimes against humanity. In Bangladesh, Thailand, and Malaysia, funding cuts by the US and other donors have significantly reduced critical humanitarian aid for over a million refugees from Myanmar and other countries, imperiling their access to food, health care, and education. In the United States, the blocking of nearly every pathway to legal status, imposition of mandatory detention, threatened termination of protected statuses, and deportations to third countries, are throwing asylum seekers into harm’s way.

With World Refugee Day approaching, it’s important for all of us to reaffirm our commitment to protecting the rights of refugees and asylum seekers. Please, will you take a moment right now to sign our petition?
