You’ve probably heard about the Blue Zones more than once … but here's something interesting that isn't usually mentioned when people talk about the diet of the longest-lived people on Earth.


We often associate the Blue Zones with olive oil, veggies, and fish (the Mediterranean way of eating).


These are the standard, celebrated staples of long life. But there’s another, quieter hero on their plates: mushrooms.

So, if the tradition of gathering and eating mushrooms persists in remote regions, it makes sense that rural Blue Zone communities would partake.
