The wait is over. Super Rugby 2026 is finally here - and you’re about to get the very first lookat your Blues as they fire up for a massive season opener against the Chiefs this Saturday, 14 February at Eden Park.
Dalton Papali’i will lead the Blues in our season opener with Patrick Tuipulotu still sidelined. The squad features three debutants - Torian Barnes, Bradley Slater, and Codemeru Vai - with Barnes joining Papali’i and Hoskins Sotutu in a dynamic loose forward trio.
Up front, Joshua Fusitu’a and Ofa Tu’ungafasi pack down with Slater, while Sam Darry and Josh Beehre lock the second row. Finlay Christie starts at halfback and Stephen Perofeta makes his long‑awaited return at 10 after an injury‑hit 2025.
The midfield sees Pita Ahki and AJ Lam combine, with Caleb Clarke, Cole Forbes, and Zarn Sullivan forming an exciting back three.
Head Coach Vern Cotter says the opening clash is a strong early test and a chance to set the tone for the season.
