The Blues were edged 30–27 by the Brumbies in a dramatic Round 3 clash decided after the final hooter. After an evenly contested first half - with tries to Caleb Clarke and AJ Lam - both sides went to the break locked at 15–15.
The Blues gained control in the second spell, with Clarke grabbing his second and Dalton Papali’i marking his 100th match with a try to push the lead to 27–18. However, a late yellow card swung momentum, and the Brumbies capitalised with two late tries to steal the win.
Clarke was a standout with 108 metres and four clean breaks, while Papali’i delivered a huge defensive shift with 19 tackles and two turnovers.
The Blues now turn their focus to a big home clash against the Crusaders at Eden Park on Saturday night.
