Last summer, Justin, a recent college graduate, travelled to Washington, D.C. for Bread for the World’s Advocacy Summit and urged his representatives to do all they could to end hunger for his peers.

“We discussed food insecurity domestically and across the world, especially SNAP and cuts to SNAP, and the higher vulnerability of college students with food insecurity,” Justin said.

Recent legislation will shift a significant amount of the cost for SNAP from the federal budget to states on a short timeline. These changes could disrupt food assistance for millions of people, including college students.

Join Justin and urge your members of Congress to delay implementation of these changes to protect students, as well as seniors and families with children struggling to afford food.

More than 1.1 million college students rely on SNAP benefits to help afford food. SNAP is one of the most effective tools for reducing hunger among college students, helping to improve financial stability and increasing the likelihood that students complete their degrees or certificates.
