In cycling, shoulder season refers to those tricky transition months when your layering strategy has to change. With growing temperature gradients during the day, we're officially there.
It also means that cyclo-cross season has well and truly kicked off, with playing fields and parks across the country morphing into race tracks and arenas. For thousands, it's the season of pedalling hard on dewy grass, getting covered in mud and reconnecting with the 'cross community. |

Speaking more broadly of shoulders, do you ever give thought to what yours are doing when riding? It's understandable if they aren't at the forefront of your mind.
We've pulled together examples of the sizeable impact that your shoulders have when it comes to bike control and performance. Have a read and see how many you can relate to - no matter how you ride. |

Together with mountain biking, BMX and speedway, riding cyclo-cross is a brilliant way to boost your bike handling skills and develop fitness. Plus it's great fun and a way to do something for yourself, with the support of a friendly community.
Look up a local event to watch, then think about giving it a go yourself. With races for all ages, courses that are more than suitable for mountain bikes and (usually) the promise of a hot cuppa and tray of chips afterwards, 'cross is something to get involved with. |

We're committed to recognising the dedication, hard work, and achievements of our incredible volunteering community. Our Volunteer in Focus awards are a bi-monthly celebration of people that believe in bikes, with anyone able to put a nomination forward to recognise a volunteer.
Find out more about our inaugural award winners: Craig Brown, Kirsteen Ross, Catherine Smith and Susan Vickers. Congratulations! |

We exist to bring the joy of cycling to everyone |
In March we launched our strategy to bring the joy of cycling to everyone, and through partnering with Access Sport we will be creating opportunities for disadvantaged and disabled children and young people to share that feeling.
We'll be supporting more kids to ride with British Cycling affiliated clubs (including Limitless champion and focus clubs) and Access Sport’s inclusive club network. Plus we're looking forward to offering neurodiversity inclusion training to cycling coaches and volunteers. |
