Visiting BU’s NEIDL
The 2026 cohort of Summer Institute in Biostatistics and Data Science (SIBS) visit
BU’s National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories (NEIDL) on June 24. There, they learned about NEIDL’s important role in infectious disease research—including its history and safety practices—toured the BSL-4 Simulation Lab and Suit Room, and ended their visit with a career panel
featuring NEIDL researchers.
Run by BU’s School of Public Health, SIBS is a program for college undergrads from around the country who have an interest in mathematics, statistics, biology, and health science and want to learn how to apply methods to investigate important health issues.
