Andy,
As you may have seen, Congress just proposed more than $900 billion in federal spending cuts to Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). According to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, the SNAP cuts would jeopardize the benefits of 25% of all participants—including roughly 4 million children. More than 45,000 people stand to completely lose their SNAP benefits in Minnesota alone.
In the face of these drastic federal cuts, lawmakers in St. Paul must invest in hunger-relief during the final days of the 2025 state legislative session. Enter your contact information here, and in less than two minutes, you can deliver a message to your representatives in support of funding for both food shelves and food banks.
Minnesota’s hunger-relief network cannot possibly make up for the dollars, meals, and benefits lost through such deep cuts to federal programs. Still, investing in the state’s food banks and food shelves will provide much-needed additional emergency food assistance to our neighbors in need, at a time when demand is at an all-time high.
Thanks to anti-hunger advocates like you, nearly 10,000 messages have been sent to the Governor and state lawmakers so far this year. It’s working, but we can't stop now. With just a few days left to go, make sure they hear from you today!
Sincerely,
Caleigh Gumbiner
