A down day for the newsletter

Welcome to The Logoff: Hi readers, today we are logging off.

As you may have seen, the Trump administration and Iran both say they may be on the verge of finalizing a deal to end the Iran war; given the 38 other times Trump has said it recently, we’ll hold off on diving deep until we see some signatures.

Other than that, it’s time for the weekend and what is likely the first-ever presidential birthday ever celebrated with a bloodsport. We’ll see you back here on Monday.

And with that, it's time to log off...

I always enjoy the New York Times’s Good List newsletter (six good things, once a week), including this week’s note about the approaching National Pigeon Appreciation Day (this Saturday; you can read the full newsletter here with a gift link). As Melissa Kirsch explains, they’re birds worth celebrating — I have a particular soft spot for the ones that like to hang out on windowsills outside my apartment.

Plus, in World Cup news: Here’s the University of Kansas band playing Algeria’s national anthem to welcome the Algerian national team.

Have a great evening!
