8 January 2026 |
As announced in October 2025, we’ll introduce our enhanced Cathay Membership Programme on 1 January 2027. With the transition year now underway, we’d like to further explain the arrangements and help you prepare with ease. Here’s a quick overview:
-
Your 2027 status will be based on the total number of Status Points you earn from 1 January to 31 December 2026.
-
If you earn more than 600 Status Points within 2026, you can roll over any excess points earned – up to 50% of the points required to qualify for your status in 2027 – into the 2027 membership cycle.
-
Your current membership status will remain valid until the expiry date shown in your account.
-
Any status renewals or changes that occur this year will end on 31 December 2026.
To help you plan ahead, we’re pleased to introduce a personalised 2027 Status Tracker, offering a clear snapshot of your Status Points progress throughout 2026.
We’ve also prepared a step-by-step video with an example to help illustrate how the arrangements will work in practice. | | | | |

Maximise your Status Points in 2026 |
The Status Points you earn in 2026 will contribute toward any renewals and upgrades during your existing membership cycle and will also determine your status when the enhanced programme launches in 2027.
Every Status Point you earn in 2026 will count more than once. In addition to contributing to your existing membership cycle for status qualifications within 2026, you’ll continue to earn mid-status benefits throughout 2026.
You’ll also be among the first to take advantage of a new Status Points rollover benefit. Once you earn more than 600 Status Points in 2026, you can roll over points to get a head start on your 2027 status under the enhanced programme.
What’s more, if you earn 1,200 Status Points in 2026, you’ll unlock two Upgrade Passes (up to Business class) to enjoy in 2027. Or, earn 2,400 Status Points to receive four Upgrade Passes (up to First class) and one Gold companion membership.
