A newsletter intended to provide researchers with the latest information about funding opportunities and research news from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Announcements

  • Tell us more about you! Our Grants Management System (GMS) has been updated with new features. In your User Profile (click on your initial in the top right corner), you can now provide your LinkedIn URL, pronouns, subject matter expertise (60 options to choose from!), and other biographical information. Check it out!
  • Basic and Translational Science Research Funding Mechanisms: Over the last 12 months, the number of basic science research and training applications submitted to the CF Foundation have doubled compared to historic norms. Despite expanding review panels and increasing the number of study sections, changes in our grant making processes are being implemented to manage proposal submission and review. These include prioritization of specific research questions/topics, revision of eligibility criteria for new and resubmitted applications, additions of content changes for new applications, and revisions to our grant review and funding processes. Please carefully read the Fall 2025 RFAs, as critical changes in application format and eligibility requirements have been made.

The mission of the CF Foundation Prioritizing Research in Mental Health (PRIME) Working Group is to advance our knowledge of mental health conditions in the CF population throughout the lifespan and promote clinical and translational research that will improve the understanding, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health concerns in CF. PRIME is a multi-disciplinary group and open to applications from (but not limited to) psychologists/neuropsychologists, psychiatrists and other physicians with an interest in CF mental health, social workers, basic/translational scientists, pharmacists, biostatisticians, or others with expertise that can contribute significantly to behavioral health clinical research. Researchers specializing in pain, neurocognition, substance use, and psychosocial aspects of aging are encouraged to apply. Applications must be submitted online at awards.cff.org by November 13, 2025. For questions, please contact Dara Riva ([email protected]) and Kayli Davis ([email protected]).
  • The CFF NIH K-Boost Award is to provide supplemental funding to qualified and promising scientists early in their faculty careers who have obtained K funding (e.g.: K08, K23, K25) from the NIH for CF-centric research projects. Funding of up to $50,000 for a one-year period may be requested at this time. The full application deadline is November 19, 2025.
