A newsletter intended to provide researchers with the latest information about funding opportunities and research news from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Announcements

  • Tell us more about you! Our Grants Management System (GMS) has been updated with new features. In your User Profile (click on your initial in the top right corner), you can now provide your LinkedIn URL, pronouns, subject matter expertise (60 options to choose from!), and other biographical information. Check it out!

Newly Published RFAs

  • New! RFAs for our Physician Scientist Training Programs, including Education and Training Clinical Fellowships, Research Fellowships, LeRoy Matthews Awards, and Shwachman Awards are now open to receive applications. These programs aim to attract, develop, and retain exceptional clinicians and investigators into cystic fibrosis care and research to address the evolving needs of the CF community. Guidelines are available on awards.cff.org. Applications are due February 26, 2025. For questions, contact Elizabeth Yu ([email protected]). 

Upcoming RFA Publications

  • New! The 2026 EnVision IV RFA will launch January 12th, 2026. The CF Foundation recognizes the growing demand for clinicians trained to address the unique endocrine and reproductive health needs of patients with CF. EnVision is a career development program for physicians interested in CF endocrine or reproductive health. New this cycle, advanced practice providers focused on treating CF related diabetes will be eligible to apply as well. Applications are due February 24th, 2026.   • New! The Clinical Research Award and Clinical Pilot and Feasibility Award Fall 2026 cycle RFAs will be published on awards.cff.org on February 13, 2026. Letters of intent must be submitted online at awards.cff.org in early April. Please note that applicants are required to align submissions to the 2026 Clinical Research Program RFA Topics. If not directly aligned, they must receive approval from the program officer prior to submission of a letter of intent and it is recommended that applicants speak with program staff prior to submission. Programmatic Updates

  • Please take our 5-minute Feedback Survey! CF Foundation Grants Team & System Feedback Survey. 
  • CFF Post-ETI Workshop Series Meeting Materials and Recording. Running from August through December 2025, the virtual series aimed to: Share important learnings of the large, international post-ETI studies; Bring clinical and basic researchers together to help build collaborations and share ideas on future work; Evaluate clinical end points and other outcome measures and their performance in post-ETI era studies; and Identify unanswered questions and approaches to address them, including potential contributing mechanisms. Studies included PROMISE (US), PROMISE PEDS (US), BEGIN (US), RECOVER (Ireland/UK), ENHANCE (Ireland/UK), MODUL-CF (France), and MODULATE-CF (Germany), as well as studies from Canada and Italy.   • Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Clinical Specimens and Resource Library: The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is creating a resource for investigators to connect about non-CF Foundation run-biobanks and labs from various institutions, widening the breadth of specimens and resources available for future research and collaboration. If you are interested in participating in this optional resource, please complete this form. For questions, reach out to Elizabeth Yu ([email protected]). 
  • For faster response times and assistance, use the Grant Assistance Request Form for general inquiries when you're unsure who to contact. Starting October 1, instead of emailing [email protected], use the request form instead. Your GCMA contacts, as listed in the system, will provide the quickest response.
