| Addressing the Increasing Need for Food Assistance |
The need for food assistance in New York City is the highest on record and is increasing. At our recent Sunset Park Mobile Market® in Brooklyn, volunteers distributed 21,026 pounds of food—including plantains, eggplant, broccoli, mushrooms, and more—to 1,110 NYC families in need for free. Throughout the Market, Geraldine from our Nutrition and Culinary Education team prepared a vegetable stir-fry to share with participants and demonstrate one way of cooking the produce they received.

| Advocate For Food Security |
Last month, the House of Representatives voted for what would be the biggest cut to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in its history, if passed. This is coming at a moment of deep uncertainty and change that is contributing to the extraordinary need for food assistance in our city. Join City Harvest in opposing any budget resolution that would undermine access to food assistance and health care through vital federal programs, including SNAP and Medicaid. Meanwhile, we're advocating to protect funding for food pantries and soup kitchens in the New York City budget. Join us at a rally on June 18 to tell leaders to fully fund Community Food Connection.

Sending a huge thank you to repack co-chairs and volunteers.
