Derrick, a father in Zambia, with his son Abraham
Andy,
This Father’s Day, we celebrate fathers who do everything they can to protect and care for their children—even in the face of unimaginable hardship.
When Derrick lost his wife, he was left to care for their three children alone. Grieving and struggling to provide for his family, he faced an impossible choice. Unable to afford the care his baby son, Abraham, needed, Derrick made the heartbreaking decision to place him in a childcare facility so he could continue caring for his older children.
No father should have to make that choice. Yet with 70% of the population living in poverty, many other Zambian families face this painful decision.
With you, families like Derrick’s can find hope when they need it most.
Through a CMMB program designed to keep families together, Derrick received vocational training, food assistance, educational materials, and essential household support. With renewed stability and confidence, he was able to bring Abraham home.
Today, Abraham is back where he belongs—playing with his siblings, attending school, and growing up surrounded by the love of his family.
This Father’s Day, will you make a gift to help more parents like Derrick keep their families together? Thank you for standing with fathers, mothers, and caregivers around the world who are doing everything they can for their children.
