Realistic Resolutions, Anyone?
|
It's almost 2026, which means the “new year, new me” messaging is in full swing. If you are a resolutions person (so are we!), might we suggest... being realistic? Think the same you, but with habits that actually fit into your life. For example, it’s probably not the moment to commit to five workouts a week if you’re currently at zero. Try something small instead, like putting your phone down for the first five minutes of a
walk before turning a podcast on.
At Daybird headquarters (i.e. our virtual HQ scattered across the country), one teammate is doing a “Project Pan,” using up her existing hair and face products before buying anything new. Another started journaling this year and wants to keep it up in 2026, with a goal of reflecting at least once a week next year.
If you're ready to set your own goals, rather than creating a whole new routine, try starting with attainable additions to habits you already have (aka habit stacking).

Feeling Beautiful, Anti-Beauty Edition
|
If you’ve been following along with this series, you know we’ve been asking our Anti-Beauty Beauty Club community two simple questions: When do you feel beautiful? What does beauty mean to you? The answers remind us that beauty rarely shows up in the mirror first, but rather in the moments we feel most ourselves.
This month, Victoria shared: "As a young mom, I remember taking selfies while holding my beautiful sleeping baby and being shocked that the pictures never captured the beauty I was feeling in my soul. It took me years to recognize that what I was feeling lived in a deeper place.
I used to dedicate hours every day to makeup so I could feel beautiful. Now, that feeling comes from how I care for myself, from protecting and nourishing my skin to the ritual of slowing down and tending to me.
I feel beautiful when I’m hosting and get the lighting in the room just right. When I’m watering my plants or noticing new growth. After a big day of yard work. When I’m leaving the sauna. When I’m on a date with a fancy cocktail in front of me. For me, beauty shows up in all these tiny, fully-present moments."

Every once in a while, a headline stops us in our tracks. This month, "Being hot is now a job requirement" did just that. This article discusses the mental load of keeping up appearances at work. One part that really stuck with us was the fear underneath it all: even when we question these standards, so many of us still worry about what would happen if we stopped performing them. What does it mean to
age naturally in a world where attractiveness still feels tied to opportunity?
