Defender,
Breaking news out of Washington, D.C.: In a devastating blow to wildlife, the Trump administration has moved to allow logging, mining, development and other activities in habitats that are home to threatened and endangered animals.
The administration rolled back the definition of “harm” under the Endangered Species Act, which for decades has protected vulnerable species from direct harm as well as the destruction of the habitats they need to survive.
At a time when wildlife across the country faces mounting pressures, the administration is weakening our best tool for preventing animals from going extinct. This latest move threatens to fragment and displace already vulnerable populations, which will have devastating and long-reaching consequences for these animals.
We cannot allow special interests to exploit and destroy some of our most important wildlife habitat for the sake of short-term gains.
We’re preparing to respond to this outrageous attack on America’s wildlife and wild lands. Against some of the greatest threats we’ve ever faced, Defenders needs your support more than ever!
Help us rush to the defense of imperiled animals and their homes. Make your gift today to help preserve our natural legacy for future generations!
Sincerely,
|
