Running a product-based business (probably any business!) comes with a kind of exhaustion I did not fully expect when I started, and I find it to be a consistent struggle. It is rarely the physical work that wears me down the most. It is the constant decision-making that never really stops.
A few of the weekly decisions: What to restock. What to let go of. Which idea is worth pursuing, and which one can wait? Whether to send that email now or later. How to price this, where to focus today, and what should I prioritize? Some days, I make what feels like a hundred small decisions before I even have a chance to sit down, and by the end of the day, my mind is just tired.
What I am learning is that it is not one big decision that does it. It is the accumulation of small choices that, on their own, seem totally manageable, but together they add up, and they get heavy. Lately, and more often than I care to admit, this decision overwhelm has resulted in me shutting down or finding lots of other little projects to do instead.
What I am also recognizing is that even on those heavy days, something is still moving forward. It might not look like progress from the outside, but it is there. In the order that got packed and shipped. In the customer question that got answered. In the problem that I figured out. In the decision to put down my phone and turn off the TV to focus. And in the momentI chose to keep going when stopping felt easier.
That is what "still and steady" means to me this month. Not boundless energy or perfect clarity. Just showing up with what I have, making the next right choice, and trusting that the small ones add up.
One decision at a time is enough.
