Happy Sunday, friend -
I keep seeing a specific reel on Instagram (maybe you've seen it), with military content and the text overlay of "It's not enjoy the long weekend." Admittedly, I said that to people this week. I definitely needed a reminder of what Memorial Day weekend is all about.
I don't know what your weekend looks like. Maybe you're hosting, traveling, working, quiet at home or somewhere in between. No matter what, I always think that Memorial Day Sunday has a particular feeling. It's like the calendar finally agreed to let us relax. And anytime a Sunday is followed by another day off (hopefully it is for you), it feels like you are getting permission to be more yourself than usual. No Monday logistics and planning. No lists of what has to be done before the week starts.
It's a day that can be just about here and now.
That feeling is actually what prompted me to try something this week. I ditched my Apple Watch. I still use it for workouts, but it has been really freeing not to have nighttime notifications about messages or how much more I need to do to close my rings.
Even after one week, the evenings are feeling different. Lighter and not filled with internal voices reminding me of what I didn't get done or the calls I wasn't answering. It has given me the opportunity to know, internally, that the day is done and that I'm allowed to be present with whatever is happening in my life in those moments.
Whatever today looks like for you, I hope you are embracing it and enjoying the full moment. If lighting a candle is part of that answer, Warm Vanilla + Jasmine is a good one for a long, slow afternoon.
I hope you find at least one moment that's fully yours.
Happy Memorial Day!
love & do good - Debbi
