Breaking new ground at the Alzheimer's Association International Conference.
Dear Andy,
It's never been more important to re-engage with the Alzheimer's Association. Today, the Alzheimer's Association International Conference® 2026 (AAIC®) begins in London, where leading scientists, researchers and clinicians are sharing the latest discoveries in dementia science.
What's shared at AAIC can help advance earlier detection, better brain health and broader access to treatment and care. We want to keep you updated on this progress, including:
The LatAm-FINGERS study — the results from this study show that lifestyle interventions adapted across Latin American cultures, health systems and communities can improve memory, thinking and overall cognitive function in older adults at risk for cognitive decline and dementia, reinforcing findings from U.S. POINTER.
In a real-world study, a blood test for Alzheimer's biomarkers helped improve diagnostic accuracy among specialists and primary care physicians, with a diagnostic accuracy of around 90%.
The LiBBY study demonstrates that a new treatment combining THC and CBD significantly reduced agitation in people living with late-stage Alzheimer's and other dementia who were eligible to receive or received hospice care, with benefits seen in two weeks.
Researchers found that adults with a very high level of the blood biomarker p-tau217 had an estimated 78% risk of developing cognitive impairment over 10 years. A blood test detecting this protein may help identify cognitively healthy, at-risk adults for participation in prevention trials and guide earlier treatment and monitoring decisions.
Andy, your first gift can help further our mission to lead the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia — by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.
AAIC begins today and continues through July 15. I look forward to sharing more about the research emerging there and how supporters help turn discovery into hope and help for families everywhere.
Thank you so much,
Maria C. Carrillo, Ph.D.
Chief Science Officer and Medical Affairs Lead
P.S. AAIC lasts only a few days, but the progress it sparks can shape the future. Your support today can help move that progress forward through research, brain health efforts and better care for millions of families.
Your donation will strengthen our efforts to advance Alzheimer's care, support and research. From face-to-face support to online education programs and promising global research initiatives, your gift makes a difference in the lives of all those affected by Alzheimer's and other dementias in your community and across the world. Thank you for your continued support.
