Saturday Snack XL: Extra things because I missed last weekend.Little tidbits from around the internet.Ok what’s new this week!
I was on vacation last week, and I thoroughly checked out. Between this work, store stuff, and YET ANOTHER thing on the horizon that is a secret (OH BOY!), I ran into a wall and needed five-ish days to stare into space. I planned on sending my Sat Snack, and then there I was on Sunday, flying back to LA, and it dawned on me that….Saturday was….yesterday? So anyway, I have a lot of things saved for this week. Here they are: THE CHICEST THING IN THE WORLDIs this eyeglass case. It’s from Métier, my friend Melissa’s brand, and I cannot stop thinking about it. Every outfit I put on I think…this would look so much cooler with the glasses thing. I want it so much A) because it looks gorgeous, obviously, and B) because I never keep my sunglasses in a case and they get all fucked up and scratched, and this would kill two birds with one incredible stone. I want. Métier, $650 THE SALES!There are a lot of really good sales right now. First is Doen’s, which doesn’t happen often. Here are some of my favorites:
And then MyTheresa has an extra 20% off lots of things over $350. Some selects, which you’ve likely seen here before, but now they’re extra discounted. AND! I didn’t do the math on these, so most of them are an extra 20% off.
THE BEAUTY THINGS I BROUGHT ON VACATIONFull disclosure, I got way too much sun — WAY TOO MUCH! — but still. I hate overpacking beauty products, I haaaaate having a crowded dopp kit, but I knew where we were going didn’t allow any chemical sunscreen (reef safe, baby!) so we’d be wearing mineral sunscreen, which meant I needed lots of good cleansers and scrubs, etc. These are the things I brought. First of all, I packed these genius little capsules from Cadence. They have magnets so they all kind of clump together, but they’re easy ways to bring travel-friendly versions of your favorite things. I used them for my Odele shampoo & conditioner, plus my Odele leave-in conditioner, and air-drying cream for my curly hair. I like this set, and I also love this little magnetic bag to keep all your things together. For my face, I love this Dr. Lorraine mineral SPF. It doesn’t leave a white cast at all, and is easy to blend in and reapply. I ended up burning my lips pretty badly, so then I wound up buying this at the hotel (not mineral, but I really needed it!). In the evenings, I used this powder exfoliator every night on my face to get everything off. Then I brought this Liquid Peptide serum from Medik8 for the evenings to hopefully do a little repair, plus this very reparative moisturizer from Eighth Day. In the mornings, I used the Medik8 vitamin C serum. I do not wear makeup on vacation, except for a tiny bit of blush in Minette on my cheeks and eyelids at night. I brought this solid exfoliating body bar to use on my body to get the sunscreen off too. It ended up being a little too much to use every day, so I scrubbed with a washcloth, but it is great for like twice a week. Then a few other odds and ends, but that was basically it. A THROWBACK DRESSWhen I was a little baby editor, DVF was all the rage. And then Jonathan Saunders took over as the designer and it was HOT HOT HOT and then it seemed to pause a little, and now, it has just reentered my radar with a little bit of a nostalgic hit. This dress, in stretchy mesh green berry print has me in a tizzy. It feels very early 00’s at 5 Times Square to me - IYKYK. Diane von Furstenberg, $428 BRAS FOR SUMMERMost of the year I prefer not to wear a bra at all, but during the summer with tanks and white tees, etc, sometimes it’s unavoidable. But a big ass, heavy ass, thick ass bra will not do. We need light! Sheer! Airy! Effortless! These are my favorites. A sheer, wireless one that still has a ton of support and is comfortable as hell. I love these underwear too. Mega soft, airy and light wireless one that comes in sizes up to 42DD. They also make super comfortable undies for summer. This one has a wire, but it is SO COMFORTABLE. Even I love it. I extra love the weird colors. And! Here’s a fancy one. A NEW FITBITI go in and out of wearing a fitness tracker — I love the data, and I do like that it motivates me to walk more, but I hate the look. This week I got a new Fitbit and while I don’t LOVE the way it looks, I love wearing a watch, and like I said, I love the data. So. Here we are. Fitbit, $80 AND NOW A GORGEOUS SHOEI am in love with these. LOVE! With pants or skirts or even the little pink dress coming up. Khaite, $1,480 GREAT SUMMER LONG SLEEVE TEES
Neither of these are new to me, but they are both MONUMENTAL in my wardrobe. The AYR striped shirt I’ve had for months, but both have quickly become MVPs in my summer rotation. They go nicely with weirder things, like sheer Dries pants, but also with stuff like my absolute favorite Madewell denim shorts. They’re weighty, but not as heavy as a sweatshirt, and perfect to take to the beach, or on a flight, or to the movies, or something where you want a tiny bit of warmth. A VERY GOOD SUMMER DRESSI guess I’m into pink now, because I just got this dress and I LOVE IT. I love this color, I love the pintucks, it’s very feminine and I’m surprised with how much I like it, but it’s all I want to wear with a bikini this summer. J.Crew, $178 THIS GREAT SWEATSHIRTI love sweatshirts, I live in them, and when I find a new one I like, I get very very very excited. I was gifted this one from the brand, and I love it. It’s obviously soft and great and all the things a sweatshirt should be, but I like the half zip in the summer for a little bit of ventilation without having to take it completely off. I’ve had other half zips and the zipper teeth are a little intense and can be scratchy when pulling it over my head — this one doesn’t scratch. Varley, $138 WHAT A T SHIRTI love this color. Love love love love love everything about this tee. LOVE. Leset, $78 PRADA’S NEW LIP BALMRemember the color changing PH lip balms of our youth? Prada just came out with one. This one turns a perfect pink for you, based on your own PH. Prada, $50 Ok, so thats it for now. Your friend, Laurel You’re currently a free subscriber to Earl Earl.
