Whoops! I had a great week at the store, and on Friday I had a very fun trunkshow with Jenna Katz. Thank you to everyone to came to see us! If you want to make an appointment, you can email me at [email protected] or you can book through the website. A bit about the appointment thing - right now it’s appt only because it’s typically just me, sometimes me and my assistant, but we have only one dressing room and the whole point of the store is to me small and intimate and for me to offer personal styling and shopping in one-stop. It’s not scary, it doesn’t mean you have to spend thousands of dollars, it doesn’t mean everything in there is mega expensive (the tees are $40, for example), it’s more for the one on one hand holding. Still, in December I’m going to have a good portion of the week be no-appointment-needed for holiday shopping. More on the store coming soon in a separate post, but anyway, come see me. Earlier this week I revisited a post my Fancy Mom did about making your bed more comfortable. It is gold. I also have a gift guide coming from her next week, which I’m excited about. Then on Friday, I partnered with Madewell for a look at realistic holiday party dressing. No novelty tights, no hair bows, just kind of practical and this side of festive outfits. Which brings us to today! ANOTHER GREAT BOOKAfter I finished Margo’s Got Money Troubles I wanted more from the author, Rufi Thorpe, so I started The Knockout Queen. Man, it is heartbreaking. Truly devastating but also so good and beautiful and sweet. A different experience than Margo, for sure, but no less engrossing. The Knockout Queen SHOES I’VE RECOMMENDED SO MANY TIMES I HAD A DREAM ABOUT THEMI literally dreamed about these shoes last night. I was helping someone with their wardrobe and I thought they needed these shoes, but then I couldn’t find them anywhere. It was…a little bit of an anxiety dream, but they are actually that good. I love what they do to a pair of jeans, makes them slightly girly and 90s and dressy, but without really honestly any effort. I’ve put them in the snack letter at least once before, but they deserve to be in the hall of fame. Herbert Levine, $890 THE NEW LOEWE HOLIDAY THINGI am honestly such a sucker for all of Loewe’s holiday collections. Last year it was the Suna Fujita collaboration, and this year, it’s English artist Louis Wain and these cats. I cannot get enough, I just love them! If you’re not feeling like spending $5k on a bag with a cat on it, happily, there are lots of other little snacky, gifty ways to own a piece of the collection. Like this Christmas ornament ($220), or a cat bag charm ($690), or, what I will likely be buying myself, this silk pouch printed from the collection ($390) that you can use for travel, or for a day clutch. If you have someone you want to get a special gift, or maybe you owe them a major THANK YOU these are it. A FAIR ISLE CARDIGAN I LOVEI’ve never been super into fair isle, it feels so HOLIDAY to me, but I saw this one and am very sold on it. Maybe the rich tonal brown that feels more modern than apple picky and also not so Christmassy. This is a good one. Gap, $63 A GREAT FACE WASHI love washing my face, and I love trying new face cleansers. More than moisturizers or serums, I’m a sucker for a face wash. I tried this one last week and fell in love. My skin feels very clean when I use it, but not dry. We went to the beach last weekend and I had a ton of SPF on my face and it got all of it off easily. My forehead didn’t feel tight, my cheeks felt soft, but it also didn’t feel like it left any moisturizing deposit on my skin. A true winner. Shani Darden, $38 AND A REALLY LOVELY HAIR MASKAlso after the day at the windy and kind of chilly beach, my hair felt like shit. I’m trying to grow it out so admittedly, the ends are a little fried, and it can get a tad straw-like, which I know no mask can truly cure but this one sure went a hell of a long way to make it look bouncy and shiny and feel smooth again. I’ve been using it every other wash, and I can see a difference in how my hair looks overall. It also dries more nicely into curls without having to use a ton of products, which I love. Christophe Robin, $72 BLACK JEANSI’ve gotten a lot of requests for black jeans at the store, and unfortunately I don’t have any in stock, but I recommend these a lot. This cut is heaven, very straight and simple, and the black wash is full black, no distressing or variation in color—just how I like them! Slvrlake, $300 THE SWEATER I CAN’T KEEP IN STOCKI got a delivery of these Róhe polo sweaters in a week or two ago, and I sold through them so fast. They have really beautiful structure around the shoulders, and have a nice spongy, dense weight. They’re especially flattering if you have boobs, but I’ve yet to see anyone this didn’t look great on. Róhe, $675 AND THAT’S ALL! Have a great Sunday! Your friend, Laurel You’re currently a free subscriber to Earl Earl.
