As Editorial Manager at Easterseals, I get a front-row seat to incredible stories across the nation. From the people featured on our blog to the moments of disabled joy we celebrate on our podcast, my work constantly introduces me to advocates and changemakers across the disability community—and I want to make sure you get to know them, too!

Which is why I couldn’t be happier to launch the first edition of The Easterseals Edit, just in time for Disability Pride Month!

Being both a disabled person and an Easterseals team member, I love sharing stories that celebrate self-expression and advocacy.

Co-hosting Easterseals’ podcast alongside my colleague and friend, Lily, I’m constantly reminded of how much vibrant creativity surrounds us. In this issue, you’ll meet pop star Austin Halls—who’s spilling the tea on disabled joy through music (his new album is a must-listen)—and dance instructor Zazel O’Garra, who empowers disabled dancers to find pride through expressive movements on stage.

Since Disability Pride Month celebrates the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act, I’m including some reads and resources you can check out to learn more about the history of disability rights in the United States. In every issue, I’ll also share updates on Easterseals' advocacy priorities and opportunities to take action alongside us.

What’s Going On With Medicaid?

You've probably heard a lot about Medicaid lately. Last year, Congress approved significant changes to Medicaid that reduce federal funding and add new eligibility requirements, changes that many advocates worry could make it harder for people to access the services and supports they need.
