The Oilers Rookie Writers Contest returns for its third season, in partnership with the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation and Every Kid Deserves a Shot, presented by Rogers!

We're inviting kids in Oil Country to write a short fictional story telling us what the Oilers and/or Hunter are doing on their February break! Oilers forward and children's book author Zach Hyman will review the story submissions and help select the winner!

The Grand Prize winner will have their short story animated and shown on the scoreboard before the Fan Appreciation game on Monday, April 13. The winner will also receive four tickets to attend the game with their family, plus a meet and greet with Oilers mascot, Hunter the Lynx!

Contest Rules & Regulations

Bonus! Secondary winners of the Rookie Writers Contest will receive two tickets to upcoming games throughout the remainder of the season.

Open to kids aged 8–13. Stories can be a maximum 750 words. The deadline to enter this contest is Monday, February 16 at 11:59 pm MT.
