Email, we recently ran a flash poll about election priorities for our supporters.

Rest assured, our surveys are real, and we DO read your responses! Today we want to report back what we heard.

Supporter input on this particular poll was invaluable as we plan our election year messaging and strategy.

Here are the topline results:

1. Winning elections is critical for gun safety. We're excited to see the responses were pretty much unanimous! Our supporters overwhelmingly agree that we should prioritize kicking out MAGA lawmakers who support Trump's extreme views on guns.
   
   The reality is that our gun laws are only as good as the lawmakers we elect. That's why we're already working hard to secure victory for Gun Sense Candidates in must-win races in this year's elections. (And yes, it's why we also ask for donations to fund those efforts 🙂)


2. Our supporters are worried, but cautiously optimistic about the elections. Between Trump's actions and the sheer stakes of the outcome, there's plenty of reason to be stressed and worried about this year's elections. We're all feeling it!
   
   We also heard that our supporters are feeling hopeful! We're hopeful too: Districts where MAGA candidates previously won are newly competitive. Recent polls are showing a toss-up for U.S. Senate control. There's a LOT of momentum behind Gun Sense Candidates right now.
   
   With our grassroots power and smart investments in key races, we have a chance to turn the tide on MAGA extremism this November.


3. Our supporters agree: Flipping the U.S. House and Senate should be a priority to provide a strong check against Trump on issues like gun safety.
   
   More than 80% of respondents said flipping Congress to a Gun Sense Majority is "essential". Nearly everyone else said it was "very important" to flip the House and Senate.
   
   Only a handful of respondents said it's not important — but let us make our case:
   
   Trump has made extreme moves to weaken gun safety policies in his second term. His DOJ is suing California and Virginia to block newly passed state laws, including Virginia's new assault weapons ban. He wants the USPS to allow guns in the mail.
   
   The Trump administration has pushed a growing list of alarming gun policies and extreme rules that the gun lobby is celebrating — while actively making the rest of us less safe.
   
   Electing Gun Sense Candidates up and down the ballot won't make Trump any less extreme on gun safety — but kicking out MAGA extremists and voting in Gun Sense Candidates to elected office would provide a vital check on his administration and a lifeline for existing gun policies that are currently under threat.
