Feeding America.

As celebrations continue to ring out across the country for America's 250th birthday this month, an unfortunate reality persists. From coast to coast, our neighbors still face hunger when no one should have to.

That includes 1 in 9 working-age veterans and nearly 1 in 4 active-duty service members.

Feeding America is working to help ensure everyone, including veterans and active-duty service members, has enough to eat. And members of the armed services community, like U.S. Army veteran Carl "Hollywood" Davis, take part.

For the last 10 years, Carl has volunteered with Feed Our Vets, an organization that works with the Food Bank of Central New York, a member of the Feeding America network. Feed Our Vets provides access to food for veterans, active-duty service members and their families.

For Carl, one of the most meaningful parts of volunteering is helping ease pressure for military families and children. "...We're feeding veteran families, especially the ones with kids, that have to choose between bills and food," he shared.

"It's not just a food bank," Carl said. "It's a gathering place for veterans that check up on each other and say hello, how's your wife, or something like that."

We are grateful for Carl's service, both in the armed forces and in helping his neighbors get the nourishing food they need to thrive. You can read Carl's story here >>

As we celebrate 250 years of America, we can also imagine what the next 250 years could look like: a future where no one faces hunger. Thank you for joining us.
