Today, 54 years ago, a small group of activists embarked on a journey to the remote island of Amchitka to bear witness and confront U.S. nuclear weapons testing aboard an old fishing boat they named the “Greenpeace.” This was when our story began.
And thanks to you, Andy, we’ve been sailing, marching, and advocating to the ends of the Earth for people and the planet ever since.
I’m excited to announce that in honor of our movement’s 54th birthday, all donations can be MATCHED dollar-for-dollar until 11:59 p.m. tonight — will you please help us mark the occasion with a 2X-MATCHED gift right away?

From documenting environmental abuses on land and at sea, to calling out corporate greed and uplifting the voices of frontline communities, Indigenous Peoples, workers, allied activists, and more — your generosity has allowed us to keep up the fight for a green, just, and peaceful future for over half a century.
While we’ve made a lot of progress along the way, the problems facing our planet continue to mount. Now more than ever we need to fight for a liveable future.
Yet today, when the planet needs us to be the champion in its corner more than ever before, the very future of our movement in the United States is at stake — because as a billion-dollar oil company wields harmful legal tactics to silence our voices through the courts, its allies in Trump’s pro-billionaire administration are reversing decades of hard-fought protections for both the planet and everyday people’s basic rights.
But if we’re going to win the transformational change needed to save the planet, it can’t happen in a world without Greenpeace USA.
That’s why we’re counting on dedicated supporters like you to take advantage of the flash 2X-MATCH opportunity — so please, Andy, make a 2X-MATCHED gift to Greenpeace USA before the end of our big day.

Corporations and politicians will use any means necessary to protect the toxic status quo, even if it means risking global catastrophe for the benefit of their bottom lines.
But you’re with us in the fight because you know it doesn’t have to be this way — and with your voice, your passion, and your support alongside millions of others, we can and we will leave behind a healthier planet for future generations.
Thank you for all you do — because at the end of the day, this is a celebration of you.
