I believe all girls should be able to live their dreams. Tahane wants to be a doctor. Rania hopes to become a pilot. Yet dreams like these are out of reach when you live in a refugee camp near the border of Sudan.

I’ve witnessed the heartbreaking conflict. Sudan continues to be home to the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, with war raging for three years straight. The famine means food is scarce and clean water is hard to find — and there’s not enough for the hundreds of thousands of Sudanese refugees. Tahane has seen girls her age forced into child marriage, and gender-based violence is common.

Thanks to the support of caring people like you, Plan International teams have been on the ground in Sudan from day one and will be there as long as it takes to protect children and restore lost childhoods. Girls like Tahane and Rania know they’ll be safe when they see our responders in their Plan vests.
