BREAKING: Latest GOP attack on wildlife and environmental protections advances – putting thousands of at-risk species in danger! Take action now! >>
Trump and his allies have been relentless in their efforts to dismantle the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and other bedrock safeguards that protect America’s precious wildlife and their habitats. Now, they’re escalating those attacks through Congress with one of the most extreme anti-conservation spending bills we’ve seen in years!
The House Appropriations Committee has just advanced a funding bill that slashes support for the Fish & Wildlife Service and other key environmental agencies. Even worse, this dangerous legislation directly undermines key protections for some of the nation’s most iconic and threatened animals, containing a sweeping package of anti-wildlife poison pill riders including:
Stripping federal protections from gray wolves across the lower 48 states
Weakening habitat safeguards for northern spotted owls and the Canada lynx
Blocking grizzly bear restoration efforts in the North Cascades and Bitterroot ecosystems
Preventing stronger protections for the northern long-eared bat
Reviving Florida’s unlawful wetland-destruction permitting program, which could harm animals like Florida panthers and frosted flatwoods salamanders
These are just a few of the harmful provisions buried in the bill. Beyond targeting individual species, the legislation also includes riders that would allow rules aimed at gutting the ESA to stand, and that would even embed climate denialism into federal policy!
The stakes could not be higher, Andy. The consequences for defenseless wildlife and our fragile ecosystems could be devastating, unless we can generate enough public pressure to hold our lawmakers accountable. That’s why we urgently need your help building a powerful grassroots coalition. Can we please count on YOU to step up TODAY and join our collective resistance against ruthless attacks on vulnerable wildlife and our planet before it’s too late? TAKE ACTION NOW: Demand that Congress OPPOSE the deadly anti-wildlife riders in the new appropriations bill! >>
