WOLF 1478F: The rising star of the world-famous Junction Butte Pack and the daughter of the famed Wolf 907F, who was likely illegally murdered. Officials discovered that her collar had been cut off and thrown into a tree, but her body was nowhere to be found.
DOG CREEK WOLF PACK: A 12-member pack in the heart of the Grand Tetons who were pursued by a ruthless hunter that plowed over them, eliminating them one by one until every last wolf was dead.
ASIZA: A breeding mother wolf of Arizona’s Bear Canyon pack who was presumed pregnant when she was shot and killed by federal agents. As a member of the highly endangered Mexican gray wolf subspecies, her loss was especially significant.
These are only a FRACTION of the many gray wolves killed by human activity. A recent global meta-analysis across the Northern Hemisphere found that the majority of all wolf deaths are human-caused, with roughly 60% of that total resulting directly from legal and illegal hunting.
