Girls Who Code

Hi there,

Artificial intelligence is changing how we learn and create, and as AI tools become more common inside and outside of the classroom, knowing how to use them safely is now more important than ever. 📚

AI literacy starts with understanding how these tools work and where they might fall short. It also challenges us to spot misinformation, question what we’re told, and be mindful of the personal information we share—all key skills for staying cyber safe.

AI literacy and cyber safety go hand in hand, and building these skills can help us use technology more confidently and make smarter decisions as it continues to evolve.

Ready to get cyber smart about AI? Explore these free tools and resources created by our friends across the Cyber Education Alliance to level up your AI literacy and digital safety skills.

  • Truth, Tricks, and AI - For learners ages 11+ | Day of AI’s lesson helps students identify hallucinations, deepfakes, and bias while practicing strategies for checking whether a claim is trustworthy.
  • CyberSafe AI - For high school and college students | Virginia Cyber Range’s free interactive course uses lessons and game-based challenges to help students understand how AI works, spot threats like deepfakes and phishing, and use these tools safely.

THE LATEST BUZZ

THESE STUDENTS ARE EMPOWERING THE NEXT GENERATION OF CODERS 🏫 Three Emerald High School students are inspiring the next generation of coders through Silicon Valley Scholars, a student-led organization offering free coding bootcamps, tutoring, and mentorship. Inspired by their own STEM experiences, they're creating more opportunities for young learners, especially girls, to explore computer science.

TURNING CURIOSITY INTO INNOVATION 🏋️ MIT PhD candidate Diana Grass is developing soft bioelectronic devices that could help scientists better understand how the brain communicates with the rest of the body. By combining biology, engineering, and neuroscience, her research could lead to earlier disease detection and more personalized treatments.
