Andy, this is beyond the pale.
FIRST: Energy Transfer — the Big Oil company behind the Dakota Access Pipeline — sued Greenpeace’s USA, Fund, and International entities for more than $300 MILLION over false and racist claims that we organized the historic Indigenous-led Standing Rock resistance.
THEN: The jury awarded Energy Transfer over $660 MILLION in a verdict that could not only effectively BANKRUPT Greenpeace in the United States but also set a legal precedent where corporate bad actors can quash any critic’s protected rights to speak out, organize, and protest, via costly courtroom intimidation.
But NOW: As we appeal for our people-powered network’s survival, Energy Transfer is boasting over $4.1 BILLION in profits over the first quarter of 2025 — made off polluting the climate with planet-heating emissions and harming public health, even as they were busy threatening both our movement and our First Amendment freedoms for daring to call them out.
So after spending more than seven years and millions of dollars fighting this case, our hopes of success rest on having the resources to fight until the end.
But we don’t take a cent from governments or corporations — our tireless work to protect people and the planet is only possible with the generosity of Greenpeacers like you.
So please, Andy, can we count on you to rush a gift of $20 or more to the Greenpeace USA Warrior Defense Fund? We can’t win the fight against this Big Oil bully — or keep up the fight for the green, just, and joyful future we deserve — without your urgent help today.
