Time flies when you’re contributing to open source, there’s just 3 days left in Hacktoberfest 2025!

Thousands of developers from around the world are already celebrating open source by submitting pull and merge requests, reviewing contributions, and collaborating across projects. If you haven’t registered yet, now’s your chance to jump in before October 31.

Here's what you need to know:

• Register before October 31 on the official Hacktoberfest website to take part.

• Maintainers can still opt in by tagging repositories with the hacktoberfest topic on GitHub or GitLab.

• Contributors who complete 6 accepted pull/merge requests will earn a digital reward, and the first 10,000 to finish will receive the exclusive Hacktoberfest 2025 T-shirt.

• Keep your contributions meaningful. Spammy PRs/MRs lead to disqualification.

• Questions? Reach out to the maintainers of the specific project you’re contributing to. DigitalOcean support applies only to its own repositories.
