Name a woman who inspires you.
Eileen Gu. Her fearlessness, discipline, and ability to perform under pressure inspire me. She embodies what it looks like to push boundaries while staying true to yourself. I also can't believe how well spoken she is for someone so young.
What’s something you thought you couldn’t do, but did?
Help win equal pay for women in professional surfing. We got the state of California to back us and forced the World Surf League into a corner they couldn’t ignore, making surfing the first global sport with pay equity. That moment showed me what’s possible when athletes work together and stand up for what's right.
What song gets you fired up before a workout or surf session?
She Got Game — Public Enemy.
You’re at peak difficulty of a workout, surf, or competition—what one thought keeps you going?
“I love this, I live for this, I belong.” That’s the loop in my head when things get hard—whether it’s in the gym, on a heavy wave, or in life.
Which Hettas are you currently training in and how does running support your performance in big-wave surfing?
I’m training in the Tempos, and they’ve been great for building speed and agility. In big-wave surfing you need to be powerful, but also incredibly quick on your feet. When chaos emerges on a wave—and it always does—you need to be strong like a bull and nimble like a cat. The Tempos have been helping me stay springy and make consistent little gains week by week in my training.
