The 2026 IFT Compensation and Career Path Survey shows median salaries in the food sciences up 11.8% to $120,000, but reduced job mobility as fewer employees change jobs and average tenure with employers increases.

The 2026 edition of The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World, published jointly by groups including the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, UNICEF, the World Food Programme, and the World Health Organization, points to agricultural subsidy design as a structural reason healthy diets remain unaffordable for around 2.7 billion people.

Functional ingredients supplier SuanNutra has signed an agreement to acquire a portfolio of specialty natural ingredients businesses from IFF. The businesses will merge with SuanNutra’s existing Spain-headquartered operations to become a global natural solutions group.
