There’s nothing quite like the moment when you begin to hit your groove. Don’t judge a run by the first 20 minutes – you’ve barely scratched the surface. I’ve learned that work is similar. It takes a bit to find your footing in a new role, but I’m starting to feel the groove as Tracksmith CEO. This is where the fun begins.
One of the projects I’ve been most excited to work on has been the launch of our new max-cushion trainer, the Eliot Ryder. To me, it represents Tracksmith at its best: thoughtfully innovative, a little unexpected, and classically stylish. Internally, we talk about making people fall more deeply in love with running. Ryder’s a shoe that does just that: it makes the miles feel so good, you’ll be stacking them in no time. Read on for some more behind-the-scenes details from the shoe’s roll-out. I can’t wait for you to give it a try.

Constructed with the biggest drop-in midsole on the market, our new max-cushion trainer is made for stacking miles. Unmatched softness and immediate bounce give the Ryder its unique ride – you’re going to love the miles you log in it.

As max-cushion footwear has exploded, the market is now crowded with extreme stack heights, aggressive geometries, and foam one-upmanship. Still, there are real performance benefits to a more protective shoe for logging the kind of mileage needed to build endurance. As others chase the same max formula, we saw an opportunity to cut through the noise with a more refined, high-performance answer. The Ryder’s can’t-wait-to-do-it-again ride begins with its drop-in construction. Sitting directly underfoot, 25mm of supercritical ATPU foam creates an immediate connection to the cushioning. The result is a uniquely soft and lively sensation, more akin to standing in the foam than on top of it. It's the largest drop-in midsole in running, built from one of the industry's highest-performing foams with more than 85% energy return. All in, Ryder’s comfort and rebound feel distinctly different from conventional max-cushion designs. - Matt Pauk, Head of Product

Inspired by the idea of stacking miles, we’re leaning into our favorite stacks – in this case, pancake stacks. Below, Matt Taylor shares his go-to recipe, which he whips up most weekends for his teenage kids, and some of our team shares their local pancake spots.

Directions Beat together the egg, milk, and melted butter. In a separate bowl, combine dry ingredients. Add liquids and stir together until flour is moistened. Fry on seasoned griddle (400°). Turn the pancakes as they begin to bubble. Serve with warm Vermont maple syrup. Serves 4.
