Hi Email,
Right now, millions of older Americans are struggling with hunger and isolation, forgotten behind closed doors.
Meals on Wheels is a proven solution, but local providers are being asked to do more with less as federal funding for local providers has not kept pace with rapidly growing needs and rising costs.
As the chief advocacy and policy officer at Meals on Wheels America, I've seen firsthand that Meals on Wheels is more than a meal. It's a friendly face, a wellness check and a reminder that someone cares. Grandmas, grandpas, moms, dads, aunts, uncles, neighbors and friends across the country deserve the dignity of knowing that help will be there when they need it most. Instead, too many of them are on waitlists for Meals on Wheels services. And it can take months, even years, for them to get help as funding falls behind.
It is up to us to speak up for millions of vulnerable seniors who can't speak up for themselves.
