How WBC Became the World’s Best Espresso Before Heather Perry became CEO of Klatch Coffee, she built a remarkable career in competitive coffee. After becoming the first woman to win the U.S. Barista Championship in 2003, she then became the first person to ever win the award twice. As such, she became the U.S. representative at the World Barista Championships as well. During the 2007 WBC in Tokyo, Japan, she competed with our first iteration of WBC. There, she earned second place overall, but the espresso she competed with earned the event's very first Best Espresso award, helping put Klatch Coffee on the international map. That achievement meant far more than bringing home a trophy, as it proved that a family-owned roaster could compete with the very best in specialty coffee. It was proof that our thoughtful sourcing, expert roasting, and relentless attention to detail was worth it. Today, WBC World's Best Espresso continues to be crafted with that same commitment to quality. Join us as we continue to celebrate WBC Celebration Week, where every bag of WBC purchased online between July 5th and July 12th will automatically earn 300 bonus Klatch Rewards points.
