Tony Laithwaite set out for France in the 1960s looking for a summer job and a bit of adventure. He never expected a gig washing bottles at a winery in Bordeaux would lead to a more than 50-year legacy built on a love of sharing great wine with friends. Follow the SOMM TV filmmakers as they revisit the early days of Laithwaites Wine, exploring Tony’s roots in Bordeaux. You’ll meet the Bourlon family of Château Guibeau, one of Tony’s original suppliers, and lifelong friends. Being in business for 50+ years is something special. We couldn't do it without these personal relationships. See for yourself 👀 |

The SOMM TV Heritage Collection This limited-edition set lets you explore Tony Laithwaite’s 50+ year adventure in Bordeaux with three very special bottles. - Le Vieux Château Guibeau is the first château wine Tony sold—way back in 1969.
- Château La Clarière is the flagship red from the Laithwaite’s own estate in Castillon, which Tony took over from Monsieur Cassin in 1984.
- Château de Colombe may be the estate’s more accessible wine, but it is still dense, refined and serious (especially in the great 2022 vintage).
